New speakers fitted.....at last
Discussion
Got around to fitting extra speakers in rear of my Tuscan at last
(130mm velocity's) All went ok and it has improved the sound considerably. Nothing like the system's that some folk have shown on here but a big step forward methinks. 130mm biggest that would fit without to much hassle.
Be happy to share any info if needed.

A JVC...kd6501. A mid range unit, nothing to flash or expensive. Has 4x50w output.Main reason i bought it was because i thought it looked good in the Tuscan pod. The st pioneer looked a bit out of place,IMO of course. The JVC also has mp3 which saves having cds in the car, i just whack 5/6 cds onto one mp3 disc or playlists off my mp3 player. Photo inc just because its still a novelty doin it

There is a hole(115mmdiam) already cut into the fibreglass, If you push/poke firmly onto the padding inside the car you can feel the outline. This opens thro into the 'cubbybox' in the boot ontop of the tank.
If you cut the carpet at the back of the cubbybox this allows the speaker to protrude thro. All covered when the lid velcroed shut. Problem is that the tank sits just below the speaker mount and this limits the mounting depth of the spkr cone.I had to fit an extra 10mm spacer to reduce the depth. The mounting depth of my speakers is 54mm. I reduced that by 10mm so i guess 44mm is the answer. However a different shaped cone may fit better ie/ narrower and longer rather than shorter and fatter. I would expect most 130mm speakers to fit but may require varying amounts of spacing.
A wiring loom runs along the top of the tank so take care when cutting out spkr hole.
Hope this of use, Dave.

hi,lost my head last summer and fitted some speakers to my tuscan ,pioneer 2x24cm+2x17cm+2x12cm+2x13cm and 2x45mm tweeters with a 12inch sub in the boot with a 1500w power amp, just kept adding untill the sound was perfect very over the top but so is the car, dont know if i will keep it that
way.....maybee a change after the summer.
Hi Alex, Err dunno. Mine has a headphone socket which will allow an Mp3 to connect but some can control the mp3 from the head unit. I dont use my mp3 in the car, just burn cd's in mp3 format which fit about 100 tracks/cd.
Maybe catch up at next meet...Dave.
Take it that the motor is run in now.

Pretty impresive, how did the transmission tunnel speakers fit? Looks a good way of getting some sound to the front. Would've thought it would be a hostile enviroment for speakers tho!
D.
Hmm, very interesting. What size are the speakers? and would the a normal head unit drive 4 spkrs,[assuming the door pillar ones are retained] I would've thought it would be ok! It would be great to get some sound to the front of the car and the facia is already curved to the shape! I dont know if i would be brave enough to start cutting holes in it tho
hi,the speakers are std 13cm,the diamiter fits realy well,i know what you meen it was a tense moment cutting the holes due to that i have never seen it done, but i thought it was a case of a small amount of fiberglassing and carpet fitting if it all went wrong, not that i am an expert in that area but it is not that much of a job to put back, the only thing i did spend more on than i needed to was cable,as a fiberglass car i allways think better safe than....as for your head unit it will have no problems powering 2x13cm drivers, you can feed the wire down a small hole made at the side of the fixing bolt for the head unit,in all about 2-3 hours work but i cant say enough about how much better the sound is with them in,and it seems the only place to put them i did have a look at doors but its a lot more work and the sound will be at your feet.
