Hi, i am currently a second year transport design student at huddersfield university currently working with TVR.

Our breif is to design and devolop storage sollutions to help people like you in day to day life of your TVR's. These products would be sold as part of an aftermarket accessories range by the company.

Would it be possible of any of you to help with this design sollution as you are the people we design for, both tuscan and other TVR owners.

I need information on what you get upto in your TVR's, where you go, what you carry.
Do you use your vehicles everyday to do everyday tasks or do you use it as a secondary vehicle for fun alone? What existing storage sollutions are availiable on your TVR's, what have you made yourself?

What do your TVR's mean to you, why did you buy a TVR and how important would it be to you for a TVR product to match the TVR design idiology.

Thanks in advance for any help, your opinions views and beliefs will really count!

people sometime ask for bike racks and roof racks! Not a big market.
In the car there could be storage needs for tools or fire extinguishers.

Knowing how fastidious most owners are about their cars, myself included, how about some kind of pre-formed fitted boot storage. The shape of the Tuscan boot always results in things rolling around and odd spaces to fill?

yea all good stuff (mainly ) but we have been asked to do it around your be-spoke needs. What do you currently put in your vehicles that you have trouble with, or even things that you cant get in your vehicle within reason.

This brief is all driven around how you use your vehicles so that is what will drive the final sollutions. You all drive TVR's so think wacky!

keep up the good work and i thank you, cheers

Personally I'm having problems with fitting in my IPOD Nano in a suitable fashion in my Tuscan Mk 1. The usual car mounts won't really work in a TVR so a bespoke phone/ipod etc. installation kit would be most welcome!!!

Definately a hands free kit, I havent come across one yet. And maybe some sort of missile holder and an oily road squirter from the rear of the car.

As you stated that you are currently working with TVR can you confirm when the new 2+2 Cerb is going to be released together with the Typhon?

How about some sort of compartmentalised moulded foam type thingy (sorry if that's too technical ) that effectively flattens the boot floor, but stops things rolling about?

If you felt really flash, you could shape the compartments for tool kit / fire extinguisher / jump leads / curry.....hell - the possibilities are endless.

I'd buy one..........

Why dont you start at the basics!, perhaps then we could be more adventurous.

All gimicks aside, a blooming spare wheel holder and a Jack would be a good starting point! some tools and bulbs could be stored inside the wheel itself?

Once we have cracked this element which is a seller no doubt about it, we could then move onto the revolving flashing condom holders and alikes.

What about designing something to go behind the seats, quite a bit of space but wasted as everything falls off it, things like cd storage a cup/ pint holder, speaker fitments? all finshed according to your interior trim option would be pucker

If I am way off track let me know.

good luck with the project and if you need a car mines free!

all spot on stuff, unfortunately i only work for TVR through Huddersfield University. I do believe TVR will be popping down with the next generation Tuscan some time soon.

Your all very much right about keeping ideas simple. For the coming weeks i simply need to define TVR as a company and define the people that buy it and what they get upto in there cars. This will then all be presented to TVR and then this will lead me to the storage sollutions.

Thanks all for your help.

Would be nice to get a Tuscan down to the campus should imagine its a fair trip for most of you tho!

cheers, Andy

OK,

I use mine some days but mostly weekends, its an expensive toy. (too thirsty and unreliable)for every day use.

I tend to go shopping in it, for clothes and bike bits. Well actually, Its the only car I drive, which I dont need a valid reason to do anything at all other then to enjoy the drive? Never have I drove just for the sake of it before....its a pleasure. I think you will find most TVR owners are the same (a bit presumptuous of me i know , sorry to the people i have mis judged).

So in essence if its a pleasure / enjoyment value car, then I would look for solutions based around its real useage! Most of the drivers have either a good mechanical brain or genuine interest in motor sport / classic cars? I am one of many who also ride motor bikes and enjoy old cars also.

I think, rather then ask questions the real way forward is to look at the profiles of the people partisipating on the forums you should start to see where peoples interests are? and what would turn them on as an extra?

Starting to waffle garbage now so best be off, if you do want a car for the day I could pop down, but only if you get extra points for it

Kind Regards

One more quick note - I often take my little three year old boy out in my Tuscan - I've been looking for a a really cool baby seat for some time, the mother care one I have really does not suite the swish interior of my car - do TVR manufacture one, if they dont, PLEASE start designing the ultimate in TVR baby transportation. Considerations should be given to an integral baby bottle holder, ear muffs and dummy holder - everything colour coordinated.

I'd quite like some kind of curved/shaped electric coolbox. The aftermarket coolboxes are too square/boxy. The floor is too curvey as well and the cones over the lights get in the way a bit.

Apart from that I like the cavernous size of the boot and find I can get the contents of a full COSTCO trolley in the boot ... and also find I can get a weekend's camping equipment in (tent, tables, chairs, clothes, stove, gas bottle, air bed, sleeping bags etc.) - but not at the same time obviously. However, both situations could do with a custom fitted coolbox.

Combining these two into a formed box about 15cm deep the full width of the boot with a flat top would be useful. The box could be compartmentalised so that foot pump, torque wrench, bulbs, jump lead etc could be stored without them getting tangled in other items.

I would like somewhere in the cabin to put the fire extinguisher too. I would attach it to the rear bulkhead but I'm not sure what I might hit with the screws. (A diagram showing where it would be safe to fix it would be a good idea).
