Hi All,

I've got an odd issue that I am hoping someone will know about before I talk to the dealer. Driving home last night and I saw some Diag code G's something about water circuit open. Anyway pulling into my road and I was getting a warning Water temp 120C.. Neither fan was on and it didnt seem hot. Anyway parked up and checked the water this morning. Added 1 pint and checked for leaks (none present) Drove to work (about 15 miles) and it reached 94C then erratic to 80C then 75C then 97C, you get the picture... Neither fans come on so I dont suppose that the temp is a true reading. I left it idling and the temp sat around 90 and then 96 back and forth. The fan usually come on at 93 and then the second at 96. Would it be a knackered sensor? Anyone have any ideas or is it just the cold. I've never had any trouble with the fans before, but what worries me is if it is getting too hot I wouldnt know..

Cheers.

There are 2 temp sensors, one for the ecu and fans and another for the dash. Sounds like your dash sensor may be goosed.

Thanks BB I only had the POD sorted 8 months ago is it related to that or another sensor in the dash?

Cheers

It's probably the dash temp sender on the engine itself. I've had the ecu one fail and a replacement part cost about a tenner. I can't imagine the other sender will be much different price wise.

Mine demonstrated similar symptoms and I had a new water temp sensor fitted - cost app £13 and product code was NO113 (coolant sensor). My fans would not come on at all, and temp fluctuated between 96 and then up to 106 - at which stage (twice), I overheated.... .

Now all good, but was v embarrassing holding up 1/2 mile of traffic as I overheated, not to mention concerns then about engine damage.
