Had my Tuscan Convertible for 6 weeks, 1500 miles.
Friday pm on the motorway, one can falls off.
Sunday am driving it to the dealer to get it sorted, the other can falls off!

Not personally.

Still they say that quality control is getting better at the factory! I just wonder when.

Sorry couldn’t resist, other that that how is the new mota?

Liz,
Sorry to show my ignorance, but is there still a 1k mileage check up? if so anything that has a thread or a clamp that could be affected by heat should be checked? the other scenario is, having seen the factory record sheets of who has worked on the cars, if there is a limp wristed Lanc lad out there, someone knows who they are.

Best regards,

James Sim.

The welding can crack on the stub pipes, but am a bit suprised this would happen at such low mileage, my previous Tuscan had both re-welded after about four years due to cracks although the cans did not fall off. Or did the clamps just come loose?

I think the problem is that they MIG weld the stub pipes. If they did a proper job and TIG welded them on there wouldn't be a problem.

Al - other than that, car is wonderful - I love it! I feel much more at home in it than I ever did in the Chimaera!

James - It had it's 1K service, but I don't have specifics as to what is done/checked other than the oil change!

Nick & Dave, it looks like the welding, they both came off (excuse my non-technical terminology!) where the pipe enters the back box. Will know later when the dealer has had a chance to look!

Unlucky ...... But par for the course. As both fell off it was most likely a div at the factory who failed to fix them right. Another one to add to the PDI list for the dealers to fix.

Liz,

I have ordered my own Tuscan convertible a few weeks ago, waiting for delivery sometime in end April or May.
Would be interested to hear if this was the ONLY problem (big or small, mechanical or other) you had with the car. I just want to know what to expect...

Many thanks.

So far, minor niggles:-
Handbrake light wouldn't go off even when handbrake was off, new switch needed.
Door opening dial switch thingy self destructed just before the first service, all parts found behind panel and reassembled by dealer, so far so good.
Sealant holding rubber trim on edge of roof has come off twice whilst getting roof into boot
Radio not fitted into dash properly, comes out under acceleration.

Small things like this I expected, but not the exhausts falling off!

Ok, just got the word from the dealer. Cans came apart! As you can (hopefully) see from this photo, the clamps are still in place!

New ones being sent from the factory today so we should be reunited by the end of the week!

Too loud like that then !

Seems a bit odd that they both broke, you haven't been letting Raj drive it have you ?

I'm looking forward to seeing your new beast at a meet soon.

Have fun

It sound like TVR are now making wedding cars - you got the dragging cans a couple of ribbons and your sorted.
