Review of Tuscan S
Discussion
Hi,
I am new in this forum. I love TVR in particular Tuscan S. I would like to read more about this model
Unfortunately there are not too many reviews about this model; so far I could find only a test drive in PistonHeads and other in Channel 4 cars.
I was wondering if some one got other review or test drive from this model, I would appreciate if could send me or tell me where to find.
Regards

TVR has always been a bit coy about the 'S' in the press but has delivered up some wonderful performance figures from 'non S' Tuscans provided to the press. Which would imply the 'S' must be even quicker...
There has never AFAIK been a review of a Tuscan S. They have been fielded in contests occasionally (it was a Mk.1 'S' that recorded an 8 second dead 0-100 time with Autocar in 2003). It was also an 'S' that did the 170mph+ past the Gatso on Top Gear. There are, erm, rumours about these two cars.

Yes there has. See Autocar 15 August 2001. Tuscan S vs 911 GT2.
Summed up as "The best TVR we've driven in ages. Shows the GT2 how a real sports car should feel, sound and behave."

Thanks for reply.
I am not looking for performance data exactly. What I am looking for is how the car behaves, what we can read in a test drive.
If you can be bothered to read it (goes on a bit) I did a full month by month report of general ownership on a Mk2 S last year. I am sure Big Al or someone could post a link.

This is the review you have no doubt read....

...but EVO also used a Tuscan S on a 200mph test if memory serves?

yeah it was included in the 200mph test, in summary they gave up at 180 odd as things started getting hairy..
Teh S was also included in a 1 page first drive review in evo, they also pitched it against a vette, 996 C4S, BMW M coupe and NSX iirc!?
Do a search oon evo.co.uk for the test drive archive..
Summary of all the reviews was pretty much blisteringly quick hairy arsed monster
ps i am lookign for one too

I have been trying Autocar.co.uk. But the only test drive there is the Sagaris, nothing about the Tuscan.
The Tuscan S vs. 911 GT2 must be remarkable to see. Do you have this article?

I drove the Tuscan Convertible S (which I realise uses a less powerful engine) in the EVO comparison in this months magazine (issue 091). It's a much more sorted car than Tuscans of old, competent, well developed and nearly up to the standard of the leading German marques (in terms of driveability). Everyone of us that drove it swore at its ergonomic and build quality issues, but softened to its charms as soon as we drove it. Have a read of Richard Meaden's comments, they're very astute and should tell you what it's like to actually drive. It wasn't a very happy companion on the Nurburgring, but then that's not how most owners will use it. Assuming these chassis, drivetrain and steering changes are being applied to other TVRs then I'd say they've made a positive step forward in building a competitive car.
