Tyres and alignment
Discussion
Hi,
Just in the process of changing my fronts on my Tuscan S and was wondering what is the widest you can go on the rear. I'm changing the 245s onto the front but want something a little wider to try and get a bit more grip there.
Does anyone know of anybody that can do alignment in the Stockton area? Shame, but its only the very inside that has worn through, bugger!!

Hello there,
my Tuscan RedRose was originally bought by a friend of Peter Wheeler and came with special order Pirelli P Zero in a different size. Front 235/35-18 and rear 265/35-18; this has never given me any problems in the four years that I have had the car. The car has been fully loaded several times and still no probs with the rears. Though, I have just changed to 255/35 all round giving me possibility to swap the rears with the fronts for better wear ratio.
PS: This is my first post though I have been lurking here for over three years. Just now I feel confident enough that I help contributing with some useful information.

Going to go for 255 35's on the rear. Makes sence cos it enables me to swap to the front when the 245's wear out. 85 quid each, can't go wrong at that.
She's down at Henly for a 12k service with tappet adjustment and a few glitchy probs like an occasional miss fire after 5k revs so should be running at its best by Monday, fingers crossed.

While I appreciate that swapping front and rear can be exciting (hmmmmm
) the Tuscan 2S has different offsets in front and back so swapping leads to bits sticking out where they are unwanted. Instead of going wider there is always the option of going for stickier tyres (Toyo888, assorted Yokos and Pirelli corsas). Also the tyre pressures make a huge difference for grip

If your car came with 225x35x18 fronts and 255x35x18 rears, then changing to wider front is going to make it twitchy as hell?!?
I know if you raise the profile a bit on the early Tuscans, ie 225x40 frony at 255x40 rear, it reduces tramlining and he chance of kerbing.
Does that make sense or have I completely missed the point?
