Tuscan convertible roof - will it fit in the boot?
Discussion
Help -
Picked up a new Tuscan in March, and the guys at David Gerald ( superb!) showed me how to remove the roof and store the roof panel in the boot, but due to excitement did not pay enough attention. I now cannot do it myself, despite the dealer emailing me the TVR unofficial instructions on how to do it.
Any pointers? I really want to be able to drop the top.

you have to reverse the roof so that effectivley it goes in backwards, there is a little notch in the roof that fits above the rear view mirror (front)when fitted, this notch fits against the boot above Tucan Badge with the shinny side(painted roof)facing upwards.Make sure the roof is level when in the boot. It might need a little easing gently from side to side but it does fit.

Put the rear screen in the boot first though.
I agree with the above, it is a very close thing, but it does fit through the boot opening, once in, it can be moved around to suit. I find that if you put the back end of the roof as high and as far back a possible in the boot, with a couple of jiggles (and then a twitch of my nose - and sometimes a "get in you bas@@@d"
the front drops in.

Not only is it hard to do (and practice does not seem to have made it much easier), there's also a risk of damaging the roof and bodywork during the contortions.
Have TVR improved things any on the Tuscan 2 ? (obviously the convertible would be easier I imagine !)

Amazing - The roof comes off !!!!!
Wow I shall try it this weekend
Have we ascertained whether your car is a Targa or convertable? If the former you can unscrew the lug above the badge which the notch on the roof panel sits in. This prevents that area from chipping, metal against roof edge. Alternatively wrap something around lug. If latter, I haven't a clue.
Two tips for all.
If your car has been standing spray some WD40 onto the locking bolts of the roof panel as they can easily stick through not being used over winter. This can lead to stretched/broken cables when you take the roof off.
For Mk1 owners with the warning triangle, make sure to put a towel or something across the panel when it is in the boot as the triangle easily can fall off and slide over the panel scratching it quite badly.

I've only had my Tuscan 2 Conv a couple of weeks, but i think I've figured this out - the dealer talked me through it, and like you I didn't really listen. First time I tried was a nightmare, but I think I've got the hang of it now...
As the other posts say, the roof has to go in backwards (i.e. front of roof facing backwards) - if you're standing behind the boot looking forwards, then you need to put the back right hand corner in first - then twist the roof round, so that the front RH corner goes in next (under the boot opening) and the LH side of the roof slides in under the boot opening - then it's just a matter of sliding it forward, and levelling it off and fiddling around with the little catch.
It seems that the boot isn't symmetrical (or at least the above doesn't work the other way around) - I guess it's because of the petrol filler?

One thing that concerns me is petrol spurting out over the roof, it would make a real mess of the fabic. TVR say they tried to produce a bag (like the Chim/Grif) but they couldn't fit the roof and bag in the space in the boot. I've bought some wagon trailer sheeting and plan to vecro it over the top of the roof when in the boot fastening it to the carpet round the sides, to try and prevent any mishaps.

The S had a great 2 piece roof that fitted into the boot easily, the Griff had a single piece roof that fit in a bag but is a really tight fit and to be honest with the bag on pushes the boot lid up slightly, now with the Tuscan that have made it so tight that even a bag won't fit!

Hi Rich! Hope you and the good lady wife are keeping well. I beg to differ on the Tuscan roof subject - goes in relatively straight forwar and isnt that tight. You have to start with the left hand corner first though as you look at the boot!

Crikey! Messages from afar! Jo and I are fine thanks - moving to Shropshire just after Le Mans (see you there!). Work has been standing in the way of Berks TVRCC meets at the mo but I am managing to get some racing in with the Fiat Challenge. Look forward to seeing you again soon
