hi guys,

well it looks like my TVR ownership is coming to an end soon. My wife is now 13 weeks pregnent so the tuscan will go to be replaced by something will rear seats. I'm steering towards a porsche but time and money will tell. Had the first 12week scan last week and everything is ok so we can start making plans etc.

Did a run on saturday with the local lotus guys down to the coast and i will certainly miss the tvr experience but all good things....

just need to decide weather to sell it private or trade it in.

just wanted to share that.
thanks

Rick

My wife became pregnant last year - at about 13 weeks of pregnancy I sold the Tuscan ( I know ! I will get something a bit sensible etc etc)

several Months between = regret, nothing sensible floats my boat.

1 month ago (wife 8 months pregnant) wife and I agree another TVR would be good Idea (she already has sensible car)

2 weeks ago - buy 2nd Tuscan.

Baby due in 2 weeks - baby seat fits tuscan. V cool dad.

Good luck to you and the misses

thanks for the replies. Yes financially i can keep the tuscan but i really want to be able to go out in one car. Cerb - not my bag. like them but not really me. Porsche - ticks all the boxes. I know that it won't have the wow factor or have the presence that tvr have as standard but seems to be a great all round package esp in either c4s or turbo format which is ideally what i wound be after.

there does seem to be a gap in the market for a true sports car with back seats at the £40k - £50k mark..

Trouble is that your talking Porsche Cayman for that amount not 911 Turbo. You're obviously going second hand but then for 50k you could get all manner of cars; DB7, JagXK, BMW M3 doesn't have to be the ubiquitous Porker...

yes and no.

yes - i'm going second hand.
no - for approx £50k you can get into a 996 turbo. spend 5 minutes surfing and they are for that kind of money range from about high 40's upwards for the kind of spec, mileage etc i'm looking for - obviously not from a main dealer. Some higher mileage then other etc. i've been told to budget for between 48k to 54k depending on how fussy i am etc.
All of the above you mentioned are great cars but not me for thanks anyway.

if £50k 996 Turbos are new the mileage will be zero (ok 50 miles delivery)?

£50,000 will get you into a USED 996 turbo with various mileages - some high, some lower. all depends on exactly how much you want to spend and what mileage your happy with.

I see... anyway, back to your original point, I agree there is a gap for a decent 2+2 at around £45-£50k. Rich...

I understand your point, but I think you are trying to justify your desire for a 911 turbo. I have 3 children and, trust me, you won't be able to go ANYWHERE with your wife and the baby with a 911. Why?!?

WHERE ARE YOU GOING TO PUT THE PUSHCHAIR?!?!?!?!?!?

Trust me, you can't go anywhere with children with less than 2-3 years old without a pushchair...
I am afraid you'll need to go for something else...

I was faced with the problem of a new baby and only two seats in the Tuscan - I solved the problem by only taking one of my clan out at any one time - SIMPLE!

valid point and one that still concerns me but regardless of which car i get i want it to be able to carry me, wife and baby. I've spoken to a couple of very friend porker owners who like me jumped ship from TVR to porsche and they assuse me that it can be done. If this was my or my wife's main car then totally agree need something bigger but as it's only a weekend car i think and hope that it will be big enough to cater for family days out..
