Just had my insurance renewal notice from Privilege, quoting me £550, which I thought was very reasonable. However I informed them that I have had the dampers replaced with Nitrons, this has pushed the price up to £700, has anyone else replaced their dampers and found their premiums leap by nearly a third.

I found most mainstream insurers would not touch me when there was mention of any "suspension modification". Try as I might to explain what Nitrons are, little joy. A-Plan/CCI/A Manning were the ones who generally knew what they were talking about and quoted.

I never told Privilege about the Nitrons as I didn't really consider them as a mod, just a replacement of better quality. They had no problem paying for one to be rebuilt as part of my claim a couple of years back.

If anything your premium should reduce as there's far less chance of spinning with them fitted.

MMM I just had a renewal quote from sunninghill who seemedly want an additional £700 for the added spoilers to the front and back!!

Curiously could anyone help recommed an insurance company that will deal with a red rose upgrade?

I'm getting really good quotes on a regular Tuscan from the mainstream providers but at the mention of an engine upgrade they seem to double or walk away. Is there any need to tell the insurance company or any way around this? any help welcome.
