Help! I've Lost 5th Gear?

Driving to work this morning, up into 5th & nothing?

Whilst parked I tried again & it would go in occasionally but most of the time it won’t.

Any ideas?

Well, a quick call to the factory resulted in a 'book it in & we will sort that out for you!' Looks like a day out in Blackpool on the cards soon. Can't falt them.

Common failing. The circlip falls off the fifth gear cluster. It's a box out job and you can get an uprated part (surprise surprise!)

That happened to me some time back. Apparently it was an 'issue' on earlier cars, at the time the dealer was surprised when i had the problem on my 02 car..

symtom was 5th gear selected ok but was effectively still in neutral (if that makes sense)

I found this site (link below) a few months back when I was considering upgrading my T5 box, never got round to speaking to them as I have opted for the better Tremec TKO CR box as it's cost is marginally higher than a rebuilt T5. The standard T5 in the Tusc is close to its capable limits
