Hi everyone, just a quick question!

What is the best oil temperature to warm the car upto before setting off? I have been leaving it to get upto about 25c which takes about 10 - 15 minutes sometimes. Today some off my neighbours came over to have a "chat" about the motor, and basically their all fed up with the car ticking over for so long on a peaceful day (personally I think it's a very nice sound, but i'm biased aswell as 50% deaf!!). I'm not really bothered as I'm not that neighbourly, but it did make me wonder if I'm running it too long?

What temperatures do you guys run yours to before taking off?

Am sure you will get lots of responses here, but I was told by my dealer that you should not really leave the car warming up, but should drive away and allow it to warm up through careful, sub 2.5k revs driving until you reach 60c oil temp. Have followed this since the day I bought it, and no issues with the neighbours...although it did take some time to warm up on v cold days!

I drive off immediately (warms up much quicker under load), no more than 2k rpm until 50 deg, then under 3k until 70 deg.

Not good leaving it ticking away on the drive ..which applies to all engines

Drive the bloody thing..warm up the oil in all the moving parts and then

boot it...

Ps I've had the neighbours popping round for a chat thing ....they don't complain anymore after I've taken them out for a blast

It doesn't really matter as long as you keep it under 4500rpm (sorry but 2500 is just about keeping from a stall ) until you reach around 50 - 60 degrees C

I use mine all year in all weathers from snow to rain and thats the only policy I adhere to (no garage either).
