Anybody out here who started on a Chim and moved on to a Tus? What's your verdict - any regrets or would you do it again? After almost two years with the trusted V8 wondering if I should go for a change. But hopefully not a change for the worse as far as reliability is concerned. Any experience to be shared? Al, are you out there, as you went for the change a year ago or so?
Thx

Griff ---> Tusc - so near enough!
Might sometimes miss the (sound of) V8, but the basic design is about ten years ahead and the S6 gets really addictive: more power, for longer, smoothly delivered. Suits my (typical TVR?) driving style just as much as the V8.
It's difficult to keep really disciplined and let the engine warm right through before using the revs some days; inside is more comfortable (more leg room for Mrs Beano, and we've got aircon); generally just as practical; maybe a touch more expensive in some departments; couldn't tell you what the fuel consumption is like (used to know on the Griff every week!). Always just as much a pleasure to drive as the V8. Can't see how anyone could be disappointed. My Griff was a lovely car, but no regrets and I shall keep this car as long as I can (or until I'm tempted by something newer).

Chim to Tuscan....Really enjoyed the Chim...could tinker with it...but the drive in the Tuscan Convertible is fabulous...Even with PAS I felt knackered after 150 miles...Tuscan is almost as easy to drive as my BMW but ten times the fun. Boot space is nearly as good as the Chim...essential for the Golf Clubs...prefered the storage of the roof in Chim (although 1999 Chim with no spare tyre in boot)...its a pain taking the roof out every time you want to get something out of the boot when your topless. I bought new to avoid older Speed Six problems and I wanted to run it in , also got the 3 year warranty so some comfort there. Hopefully they cracked all the major issues re. poor quality cam fingers etc.

No
I take it all back! Chimaera owners should NOT NOT NOT consider a Tuscan! (We can't cope with the reputational damage!) Anyway the boot is for the stereogram - I'll just find some pictures....hang on a mo....
This is what a REAL Tuscan owner keeps in his/her boot! Oh
!

Does Chim to T350 count ?
The "T" cars are in another league. Fit and finish on my '05 T350 is fantastic; the car is more comfortable; much better manners in traffic than the V8, and bonkers fast as the revs rise. I missed the V8 noise for the first few miles; all forgiven now I'm routinely getting past 4k rpm.
You should give some thought to reliability - the early cars weren't solid; the new ones allegedly better but it could just be too early to say. I "solved" the dilemma for me by getting a new one so I got a warranty and control of the running-in, but your risk tolerance may not be the same...
I'd say "If you fancy one, do it" - there are risks, but life isn't a rehearsal

I went Chim 450 -> Tusc 4.0. In terms of performance there is no comparison, it's a different world.
TBH though the Chim was powerful enough for serious road hoonage anyway and had that V8
. Unless you are trying to prove something during pub talk about 0-60, 0-100, top speed etc.
The Tuscan attracts :a lot: more attention, which is a double edged sword. When "posing" it's great, however, there are times when just want to park it up somewhere and not worry about it, or launch into long conversations with passers by (not being antisocial, just sometimes you have other things to do)
In short, I wish I had the money to have both. I did consider going back to Chim last year for a bit because I missed the V8 so much, but when I put the Tuscan up for sale I couldn't bring myself to return the phone calls of the people who rang me about it (rude, I know) so I kept it.
As you can see from my ramblings, I am a little mixed up about it and even though I did it am still not sure I did the right thing, sometimes YES, sometimes NO.

I had a Chimaera 4 Litre for six years followed by a Tuscan for five years & now have a Tuscan S Targa on order. The Tuscan is IMO in a slightly different league to the Chimaera particularly on performance & driveability. My Chimaera had no PAS so was a pain to drive in town although was OK when on the move. The boot space is about the same, but the Tuscan way of stowing the roof is much better particularly when you have a full boot.
Had a Chimaera for 2 years. Great fun and enjoyed every minute of it. However, after the 2 years, figured it no longer had the wow
factor when I opened the garage door.
So - Feb 2005 saw me change to a drop dead gorgeous late 2002 Tuscan. It has been a superb experience and am still loving every minute of it.
At first, I missed the V8 rumble but after fitting some carbon cans, the Tuscan sounded incredible.
Buy a car with known history and you will never look back.

Just to give the counter view..I had a Tuscan & feckin hated it.
Just to even things out, i had 2 chims, a 5ltr, and a 4ltr,and feckin HATED both of them, always going wrong, since then, 3 tuscans, not one has caused any problems. (touchwood)
...yep, mine was just a duffer I suspect. It was horrible, even when it was working!
