seen a nice TUSCAN S
Discussion
Hi folks,seen a lovely tuscan s at a TVR dealership.Its on a
02 plate with fsh and 16000 miles. The car is stunning but hasnt had a rebuild,is it true that the s has better componants therefore is less likely to go pop.It will come with a v good 12 month warranty but as i only do about 4k a year i am really looking further ahead than that.Any advise will be greatfully accepted.Have had TVRs for years, but this is my first dip into the world of the speed 6.

Best advise I can give is budget for it. If alls well then fantastic but if not you've covered yourself. Its not just the engine rebuild you need to be looking at. TVR's are far more expensive to run than your normal production sports cars. I've yet to have a service under £1000 because its best to keep all the niggly problems under control before you end up with a big problem.
As for the better components, who knows what parts they put in the different engines. As far as I understand it was not until the last couple of years that they fitted decent finger followers so that could always be an issue. The point that the cranks were not cross drilled also causes concern as only half a revolution gets oil on the bearings. This seems to be a far less issue compared to the head problems, but there are a lot of people that have never had an issue with their car, as I have not in the last 8 months. Just 8 months of fantastic fun. Well worth the risk.
I will say that if you've set yourself a 4000 miles limit a year you may surprise yourself. 10000 in 8 months is what I've covered so far. Snow, rain, sun, who cares. You just find it real hard to leave it sat in your garage.
Take the plunge, you'll not regret it.!!
