Where's the quote from? Given the number of options currently available, there's probably an alternative that's cheaper (depending on whether it's a top end/bottom end failure). Also, at that price, you might look at buying an engine out of a salvaged Tuscan.

I know a company that are currently putting a Ford (not chevy) short block V8 into a Tuscan. AND there doing it for less than £6000. Its the first one they have tried, but i'm told that it fits without major modifications and that they have not encountered (yet) any major problems.

whose doing it? I heard Dreadnought were doing this a while back but not heard anymore.

What BHP will the ford engine be? Not much point unless a minimum of 400 bhp. well I suppose 350 bhp if your a girl.

It is experimental, but they are a well known indie TVR bods. There is no word if they are going to offer this as a commercial proposition, nor will they know power/performance till work is completed.

However, they are no mugs, and i'm sure they wouldn't have bothered starting if they thought the power would be significantly down on the S6.

scotty2dogs, sorry about your engine. You might be able to get a better price if you shop around, but I doubt less than 4K.

My car has been off the road since beginning of February, the gearbox blew then 100 miles later the engine went for the 4th time.

Long story, I will add a detailed post once I get it back in a week or so. Suffice to say I have almost lost my love for the Tuscan and someone out there may just get an incredible bargain....

cheers

Why not ask Dreadnought yourselves. They were at Croft last month with an MG ZT. The badge quoted 520bhp but they said that it was actually producing more. 440lb/ft. The engine was built by Sean Hyland in Canada. Dreadnought's own Claire Luty went over to Canada to help with the build. It's a 5.0 V8 supercharged Mustang Engine.

>Whether it would fit in a TVR is another matter. Apparently MG said that it would not fit in the ZT, but it did, although it appeared to be a special, one-off, wide bodied car.

Are you the unluckiest person alive? Gearbox, I'm guessing round the £7.5k mark, and engine(s) c.£5k a pop (oops...'scuse the punn).

Engine failure for the 4th time - having been repaired/rebuilt by TVR each time? I am a huge TVR fan and I know talk is cheap on the web but thats got to be worth a chat with a lawyer about!
