Do the fans come on in two stages?

Yes, first one at around 90 and the second a little later if its hotter, can't remember the exact temp, but if you do a search you should find an old post.

Thought that would be the case, but I just noticed only one appeared to be on - and if I didn't ask it would be nagging me.


(BTW temp has been sitting nice and constant in this nice warm weather - reading 89-90 for oil and 93-94 for coolant)

Can anyone tell me if it's likely that Joe the Sparks, wandering down the line in Summer 2000, would have wired up my car to have one fan come on before the other...?

This happend to me last week, only one fan on, so fiddling round with the wire on the non working fan ( engine running) when it came on and very nearly removed my fingers!

lesson learnt me thinks

Yep - 92 always the first one, 94-95 for my second fan.
