I've had my car back following a rebuild. I always liked the sound before the rebuild, but it seems that it may have had something to do with the cat having disintergrated. I am still running it in, but it's just too quiet. I thought of putting CCC's on, but having paid for the rebuild, I thought I would save some funds by going for the original cans being sleeved.

The work was carried out by a local garage. I am not sure that the sleeves are in tight enough as I was told they welded them in. On the over run it does bang and pop more, although not as often as I expected. The sound at the low revs I am able to give it, isn't much louder than before the sleeving was done. I need something a bit louder and deeper if possible.

If I go for CCC's, will it be any louder? Alternatively, I understand that the exhaust boxes have some wadding in, which can be removed by cutting a hole in the boxes and rewelding. Would that improve it? Would it be too loud? I also gather that the corner boxes could be removed and replaced with a curved pipe? Has anyone had this done and is it any good?

Any advice would be appreciated.

The 2 back boxes that the cans fit to do not have any wadding in. I removed bothe the boxes and replaced with pipe, so I had ccc cans and effectivly a straight through exhaust (left cats in as without them I had a large hole in the torque curve)and it was LOUD

Also...mine used to get a lot louder as the revs increased. Low revs were nothing to shout about, but above 3k was a different matter. If you're looking to save money, I'd wait until you're able to "play a little harder".
