headlamps inop

can anyone shed any light/ideas on where to look slight problem with headlamps seems like bad conection as when swithching lights on they sometimes flicker on then go off have checked fuse seems ok and relay can be felt clicking when turning switch suggesting switch and relay ok any one had this fault /any ideas where to look next (any common faults that anyone aware of)
