Glue... if thats what they call it....
Discussion
Marcus - if you find out, let me know, as I have a similar query! However, have been told by several sources (dealer, interior trim specialist) that the glue can adhere so vehemently to carpet fibres that it is not removable without replacing the carpet! And....given that carpet can loose colour over time, you may then have to replace the whole carpet..

and stick some bits back on.
I think Its just Evo stick contact adhesive thats used or similar, paste a bit on each side let it dry to the touch and firmly press together.
I've got a small repair to do myself at the weekend and thats what i'll be using. Make sure you get the one in the red tin and not the the non solvent green one.

Did my repair today, it was a real tricky one had to stretch the leather right over with lots of stress the glue works a treat and if it can hold what I stuck you've got no probs.
Need any help or if you want to borrow the glue let me know.

Loctite do a superglue remover that appears to dissolve most glue like substances (not just their own superglue). I used that on some (living room) carpet once and it worked a treat - might be worth a try...

Thanks James, worth a go I guess - I don't want to know what you were doing with glue on the carpet
