tuscan clutch problems

Hey there fellow fans of this mind blowing mechanical masterpiece!
I have owned my tuscan for about 6 months...its a 2001 4.0.
It has had a new spec engine and a new clutch 8k ago.....ok so here is my problem and dilemna.....the clutch isn't slipping at all and isn't leaking....but.....if you sit in traffic with the car in gear and the clutch pedal depressed for a while....the pressure in the clutch starts to go and the pedal gets lower and lower until the clutch no longer works....then there is a clunking sound........take the car out of gear......dont use the clutch for like a minute and it is fine?????
As long as i drive the car with out holding the clutch down for too long at any time its fine....as soon as i hold the clutch pedal down whilst in gear for more than like 30 seconds it starts to go Pete Tong!!!
Anyone experienced this...or has any advice????

Sounds like you've got air in the hydraulics and it needs to be bled and topped up with fluid. The reason it behaves the way it does is that the air bubbles in the system are picking up engine heat and expanding, which in turn is requiring you to push the pedal down further to get the clutch slave cylinder to release the same amount.
The fact that its behaving like this is an indication that the seals on the slave cylinder may be on the way out. Mine did this a little while back after only 8k on a new clutch.

Thank you for your advice guys......I think i will get a higher dot break fluid put in and see if that cures it....but i fear it is the seals leaking under pressure.......cha ching......im guessing that won't be cheap to fix. Im starting to thing TVRs are like women....cant live with em....cant live with out em!

Clever Trevor supplied me with the clutch and slave cylinder for me to test and I had my local independent fit it. It came with pretty good instructions for my mechanic to fit.
The Cam cover supplies oil to the top of the engine. My system also has a pre-oiler system that brings up the oil pressure before the engine is allowed to start saving the engine from a re-build!

Both the clutch and slave cylinder costs £525.50 from Clever Trevor (you can just have the clutch or slave cylinder but you might as well get the both whilst you are at it) plus fitting - your local TVR dealer or recommended garage should be able to fit it easily.
The cam cover has not been released by Raceproved yet but I was asked to test these products by Clever Trevor - which was nice!
They have made a big difference to the way my Tuscan drives and I won't be giving them back to CT in a hurry!

The main difference is the clutch and slave cylinder but the cam cover reduces the rattle you get from the top of the engine caused by the finger followers making it sound nicer and smoother. The cam cover also has a few other neat tricks other than just supplying oil to the top of the engine - in improves heat dissipation due to the material it is made from - you can actually hold the cam cover when the engine is running and up to temperature (also stopping the pain on the bonnet from going all grotty!) it also has special water run-offs to stop water from falling into the spark plugs (I like that bit!).
You will have to contact raceproved or read about the cam cover when they release it as I am no expert - I just give my feedback on what they are making but they seem to know what they are doing and really think things through. The race proved website doesn't seem to have any contact info but I am sure Keith at CT would be able to help.

I have spoken to guy at Raceproved and he says the cam cover is in the final stages of development before sign off - apparently one of the tests for me was to see how well the paint performs on the cover, but as the cover runs colder than the gear knob there hasn't been a problem.

Does look nice that. I would certainly be interested in just the cam cover, don't need the oil mod. I look forward to seeing this released. Also looked at the CT website too, there's some useful parts available on there....yet another indie supplier of S6 parts... Grand job.
