Catalytic Converter collapse?

I think one of my cats has collapsed!! (yes, I have been feeding him before I get any smart replies!!)

There is a tinkling noise from under the car and the gasses out of the cans seem uneven between the two.

The tinkling noise seems to bear no real relationship to the rev speed.

Anybody else had ths problem?

Anybody got a cat going cheap? (I know they should mieow!!)

A rattling noise would make me suspect a loose baffle rather than a collapsed cat.

That was my first thought but it doesn't sound entirely metallic when I listen beneath the car.

Time to de-cat and straight through pipes, solves all your problems, you know it makes sense.

Sounds good to me but then still have the problem of replacing the cat when the MOT comes around.
