Discussion
Hi,
I recently completed the outside of this TVR for a friend. It was a lovely car to clean and the first time I have ever had a really good look around one.
Also, can anyone tell me what is involved in jacking it up to take the wheels off? I need to do this next week to complete the wheel refurb. Do I need an extra low jack or does it need to go up on little ramps first, where do I put the jacks and axle stands?
Let me know what you think of the results...
Cheers,
Steve.

[/URL] That looks like a really good job you did on that!! If you happen to be in Cumbria any time soon...........
As for the jacking points, you will need a extra low trolley jack or take the wheels off a normal one (Just be careful!! when doing this)
You have to use the chassis itself to jack it up, if you look under the car where the wing meets the door (just inside the wheelarch) a number of the tubes for the chassis meet. Jack it up on the corner, not the middle of the strut. I've done this loads and seems to work, just make sure you use axle stands too. Just in case.
I remember seeing a thread on here with a diagram, have a search through for it!

Thanks for the kind words of encouragement and the brillant jacking advice.
I am thinking of asking the owner to drive the car onto a couple of bits of 6"x 1" scaffold boards to get the car up a little higher to allow jack access.
The diagram is brillant, I will use that...
Cheers,
Steve.
