Just wondered how much this costs and how difficult it is to put the cats back on for MOT time?? Also is there a big difference in both sound and any performance gains??

Think I paid about £180 for mine and if you like noise well worth the money.

Barnet did mine and they said the cats could not go back in for an MOT !thankfully I have a good friend that works at garage that helped me out, I think the noise was ok but the emissions were 3 and a half times over so if you walk behind my car at the lights and breath in you've probably just smoked the equivalent of 10 roll ups.

As referral to noise difference not to much happens untill passing 3000 rpm the car starts sounding very agressive but most fun is on the over run....
Be prepared for some loud bangs and I mean loud. A tip for the de-cat novice is to dump the clutch in first and ease of the gas straight away and get ready for a real gun shot, I've also got sleeved cans so that gives it even more of a kick.

Hope thats helped

I thought MOT's were all computerised now and that the emissions tests were the only thing that you couldn't get help with, or am i wrong.

Shove the pipe up another (clean) cars pipe at the right moment and bobs yer fanny aunt....

I still reckon a good condition engine could be set up to pass the MOT test. I believe during a remap if you were to ask the tech to set up the fast idle fuel to near as damn it stochiometric with the lamda's disconnected. When reconnecting the lamdas this should pull things in even closer (the fuel map works on the lambdas (closed loop control) upto 4000rpm but only if cruising, switching to WOT switches fuel maps - open loop control). The engine and all associated components must be in fine working order for this to work. May I suggest the author has a word with Joolz at Trackcar Solutions he will put you right on the matter and confirm whether I am talking sh*te or not.
