What does Red Rose actually mean on a Tuscan?
Discussion
No extra bhp..
Red rocker covers
At a recent rolling road day - all S6 Tuscans all gave very similar bhp.. within 15 bhp (lowest to highest) - it did not seem to matter whether the owner had paid extra for Red Nose as BHP was virtually the same.
Was the highest bhp on the day a RR : NO.

With regards to engines, TVRCraft have opened up and re-worked Standard, Red Rose and S spec engines, the only differance in a R/R engine is the cam timing all other internal parts are the same, some early engines have billet cranks and it is suspected these came from the 6 AJP6 engines MCD originally delivered to TVR. All engines have had the same crappy cast rods, but noteably some were of different length, tho not in the same engine of course.
The S has a larger bore exhaust and a differant chip in the EMS (not sure if the R/R has a different chip but I suspect it does). As for power, standard 4ltr have averaged 350 bhp, 290 ft lbs. R/R engines and S engines are 375 bhp and 300 ft lbs if your lucky.
When Craft rebuilt my engine they ran it in on the rollers before bolting on the Blower
and with the lower comp ratio it made 378 bhp 320 ft lbs. Interestingly the peak power was at 7300 rpm where as normally they have found standard S6's peak at 6800 rpm and R/R and S engines 7200 rpm which is likely due to cam timing and increased overlap.

The Red Rose Tuscan was the predecessor to the Tuscan S & was a £4 K + option which included:-
Up-rated engine 380 BHP standard was 360 BHP
18”inch wheels standard were 16”
Up-rated suspension
Up-rated brakes

Correct it was a £4200(inc vat)option only able to be ordered from new. Any car that is advertised as a Red Rose that was not done at the factory will simply be a car with an engine rebuild to RR spec.
The engine also has bigger injectors (same as S) and a different fuelling chip. At the time Wheeler told me it would have double valve springs(lie) different camshafts(not sure), and higher compression(not sure) luckily I got one with the steel crank that has been keep in my latest Saggy/S spec rebuild.
The exhaust was the standard bore, only the S cars have a bigger bore.
