Coolant problem
Discussion
Hi all
I have just had my car serviced and it has not been used very much lately so when taking it out at the weekend I checked the coolant level. It needed a top-up so I filled it until the level was just visible, say a level of 5-10mm.
Once the car was warm coolant poored out of the cap (no steam just coolant), any ideas what could cause this? I know these caps are not easy to put on and take off but I am sure it was tightened properly. For info, the water temp has been fine and the fans do work as they should.
Any way to stop this happening would be appreciated.

Remember, water expands when hot, so probably just overfilled.
Keep an eye on it and don't worry too much

No. Its a sealed system under pressure.
Your problem is a faulty radiator cap which has an in-built pressure release valve. This happened to mine and is not un-common. A new cap should sort this.

it will piss water out until it finds its own natural level. When cold you will just be able to see it in the tank as per the manual but it will still accept water. As long as it's not overheating and the fans are working its fine.

how do you get that part of the bonnet open? ive released the catch in the bonnet then what do i do i dont want to force anything ????
There is a ball/socket each side you just pull up each side.
If they are tight use an closed electrical tie wrap and hook it under the bonnet sides and pull.
