My tuscan is a metalic silver/ green, half hide, registered Feb 2005, full TVR service history, sports exhaust, 23K miles, clean as a whistle.

Just looked in to trading my car and got offered £17K - £19K.

Is it just me or are the boys in the trade having a tin bath?

When we tried to trade in our Sept 2005 tamora in Jan 2006 due to constant leaks, we were offered £24.5K. Indeed most dealers didnt want it.

Have they all gone mental !!!!

I shall give up any thoughts I had of getting circa 29K trade in against a 38K saggy.

I may be off to Texas permanently so I thought I'd find something tasty in the UK with LHD so it'd be cheap then ship it over there. I've tried all the options re. exporting the Tuscan and it simply aint gonna work - so I'm checking out my options.

The guy said he'd been to 5 companies for offers!!!

The trade was against a Ferrari F355 and the company was in Kent (I'm sure you know who I mean).

They always do take the p1ss, its a wonder they dont get smacked on a regular basis trouble is not many people buy expensive cars of private individuals so the traders can do what they like it's just down to you to screw them that hard when you come to buy the replacment car... I wiped 14K of the deals for my last 2 babes. (7K a piece)...

I know a company that will bid the car for you and get the best price available (it will be shit though )

but if thats the price you are going to get offered you might as well let it go to a private enthusiast and starve an asshole of 10K mark ups

Mailed them this morning to tell them to go shove it. Even a quick check of Autotrader has nothing below £29K (privately or trade) for the Mk2.

They must think we're morons.

Abz: Aye - sorry I bogged off but the evil ex turned up so it was either depart or it'd all go horribly wrong! How she got in to a "Subsea only" event I'll never know.

Update:

Got this from the Ferrari dealer (who seems okay):

"Sorry Lee

I can only pass on the bids from the trade TVR buyers , and with the closure of the factory there are NO spares available for the 3.6 engine or electronics and they are nervous of the future of the brand. Pistonheads is a good website for the disposal of TVR and is used by the owners club. I hope this helps you"

The spares issue is a new one.

The Trade are POND Life.

Mind you anyone stupid enough to go this route rather than private deserves to be shafted.

You know it will be on the forecourt the next day after a good clean for A MASSIVE]Amount more!

Why sell it - just up rate it and keep it for ever..........

If it makes you feel any better chaps, this is the sort of cr!p I have had over the last 6 months on german metal.

Porsche Boxster 2.7 Cost £42,000 in August 06, by November 06 the selling dealer bid £33K and by December 06 £31K.

BMW 318i M Sport bought new in Sept O6 for £22K after a £3K discount Selling dealer bid me £18k against an April Delivery 320D M Sport Coupe. Current Book Value for an 06 plate car with 11K miles is £18,750. So not a bad offer when there was also a good deal on the replacement. I also looked at an Audi TT. The bid from the Audi dealer for my 6 month old/6K car????? Try £14,500 or shall we say £4,200 less than book.

Errrr... stupid? Deserve to be shafted? I expect the trade to sell at a suitable mark-up and to give me a lower value than private but we're talking a third of the potential sale price here.

And as for keeping it, try reading the thread. I'm emigrating. I'm looking for a LHD car.

Needless to say I am sticking with BMW (I've ordered a Z4 Coupe Sport). Sadly Porsche will not see me as a customer again.

would this be a BMW in a rather nice city not too far from us, or in the city you'd rather avoid if at all possible?

I ask because i went to look at 3-series in the nice city and was ignored for 30 minutes when i was the only customer there, so gave up and left..
