hi all,

moved the tuscan this morning and the gears seemed a bit stiffer than usual but just thought it was the norm and would be ok.
spent the day polishing and cleaning and thought id go for a drive to get my rewards but as i pulled up to some lights and put it in neutral the clutch pedal seemed to stay slack and floppy,it took a few seconds to get its pressure back.after this the clutch was doing the same all the time and i had to pump it a few times to get it into gear.
anyway i drove home the easiest way so i didnt have to change gear much but it's still the same,is this asual behavior when the clutch goes or is it a slave cylinder problem that i have read about on hear?

either way i guess it's a garage job but im just curiouse,

many thanks in advance

kev.

just found a puddle of oil under the gearbox,as i cant get under to look where exactly it's coming from does anyone have a clue.....pretty please!! does this rule out a master cylinder problem as i don't know exactly where it's located an if it's from the gearbox where would it come from....the slave cylinder? as i am led to believe that it is inside the gearbox.

thanks,kev.

Just had this happen to mine. Just got it back from Offords on Friday after breaking down in the centre of Cambridge.

My slave cylinder seals poped. Very similar symptons to you. I had at first a spongy pedal, then I had to pump it to get it in to gear, then it finally went once all the fluid had pumped/leaked out of it.

It cost around £750 to fix (Under warranty - courtesy of James Agger (Sorry about that James!)). Gearbox out job. I had a new clutch put in too for an extra £750.

Having problems with the new clutch at the moment though, very difficult to get in to gear. Took it back to Offords to get the system re-bled but still have difficulty getting it in to gear especially when cold. Offords advised that I drive it for a bit longer and let the plates wear alittle. If that doesn't fix it it's a clutch swap.

Has any one else had this problem with a new clutch?
Will I be harming the gearbox, having to ram it into gear?

thanks for that chris, the oil is clear thats leaked out but do you know if the gearbox can be removed without the engine as im thinking of taking it to a mates garage to fix.. they asked me to find this out,i guess for £750 that it can be?

Replaced my clutch recently with a friend in my garage. The gear box is removed without removing the engine.
