Lambda Sensors / Airbox / MOT Failure
Discussion
Hi All,
I am looking for some advice, I have just failed the MOT on the Lambda reading being too high, all other values were OK. I was assured that it was the Lambda sensor. I have just replaced both the lambdas with some of the universal ones. When I had the bonnet off I noticed that the Airbox wa slightly split at the front of the car and that the air filter had split a little and was allowing unfiltered air to get to the engine.
I repaired as best I could the airbox, and took the car back to the MOT station. It has now passed the fast idle but not the normal idle lambda test. I have discussed with the garage and they have confirmed that if I leave the car with them they will get it through.
I read sometime ago that the airboxes on the tuscan were of dubious quality and that someone may be making alternatives. Can any one tell me the best type and place to get a replacment?
Do you thing the split in the air box would have affected the lamba test?
Many thanks
Barry

Definitely not the cause.
The air going through the airbox is not metered in any way by the engine management - it doesn't matter one bit if the air going to the throttles is 'clean' or 'dirty' to the system.
Does this mean they'll reward you with an MOT pass if they can take it for a thrash?
