For the first time since getting my car back from repair, last October, I tried to use the air conditioning while on holiday, last week. The blue light comes-on, but the compressor doesn't start.

The AC was fine before the car was buried in trees in a tornado, during a holiday, last year. Although there was, so far as I know, no mechanical damage, the invoice from the dealer who carried-out the repairs (and has since gone out of business) included a charge for air conditioning regas.

The "manual" does not have any reference to fuses related to the AC. What else should I check? I'll take the bonnet off over the weekend, and see whether there are any obvious problems like disconnected wires. Where, in the engine bay, should I look?!

Cheers,
Richard

the air con pump is obvious and there is a single wire running to it which opperates the clutch (turns it on)

However, the system may well have shut down due to a fault (like no gas in the system)so to protect it (mine did). I would get the gas checked first

Hi there,

Can't help on details of where to look I'm afraid but I am aware that the AC should be used on a regular basis otherwise seals can start to dry and leak or the pump can start failing.

Hope you sort it soon.
