This is sometimes related to the ecu in the passenger door mirror, if you can't open the passenger door from outside open it from inside and this (on mine anyway) resets the ecu and both door and boot work fine....'till the next timeGood luck.

I changed the rear badge on my 2001 Tuscan. Inside the boot there are two round rubbery access panels (not sure if all cars have these? I've seen some people talk about removing the carpet, which I didn't need to do). After removing these you need to remove two nuts which hold on the rear badge without dropping them (you have to do this mostly by feel, I used a bit from a socket set). This will allow the rear badge with the two springs on the threaded shafts to come off and allow you to get at the switch. Hope this helps to begin with.
