Hi

After 4 years with a lovely Chimaera I've sold and pick up my Tuscan on Wednesday.

www.pistonheads.com/sales/159318.htm

I hope I've selected wisely..... I based it on the extensive rebuild the engine has had and after speaking to AutoCraft they certainly seem to have done their Home work on the work they've done.

Any advice for people that have moved from a Chimaera to a Tuscan??? I know there's quite a jump in performance to get used to but I'm looking forward to that.

Hi shortlad
seen the photos and it looks good.

I have just bought a tuscan 2001 from a dealer with 26000 on clock and paid 18350.
so it sounds about right with what you are paying.

are you getting any sort of warrenty?

Does sound about the right price then. The car has an AutoCraft warranty which runs until December 2007, other than that nothing as it's a private purchase.

Lets hope it's a great experience, I know the driving will be!

As the owner of another Autocraft car (albeit with a slightly more extensive rebuild) I can say you've made a good choice and got a very good deal by the looks of it. Happy driving!
All the best

I think you got it for a good price and the colour looks awesome.

Mine was also rebuilt by Autocraft at the end of last year to the same spec as yours and I have been delighted with the results.

I came from a Griff 500 to a Tuscan and there is a noticeable difference in performance and responsiveness ......

Enjoy! thumbup

That's good to know.

How expensive can it get? What did you have done? There was me thinking £8500 would be top money for the rebuild! eek

Is it just mine or does yours sound quieter on the top end as well? AutoCraft tell me that the redesign of the finger followers allows the clearances to be tighter so less noise. Not that I don't trust/believe them, just interested in other peoples views.

I'm ssssooooooooooo looking forward to getting it now. Only down side is that I have to drive it out of Docklands! eek

I only had mine a month before the engine went pop so can't really remember what it sounded like before! (my own fault, didn't get it checked properly when i bought it, thinking a stamped service book would mean it was OK and ended up with a £6000 rebuild)

There are a lot of posts saying the SP6 on tickover sounds like a bag of spanners. After the Craft rebuild, mine sounds pretty smooth and quiet. All the noise comes out the back through the CCC's! evil

On tickover it's quieter. Much less vibration and rattle. You can put a pound coin end on, on the cam cover and it won't fall over.
However, once you press the accelerator it's a much richer sound than before I think - that must be where they put all those £££££!!!

My 2000 Tuscan had a rebuild late 2003. I've only had it 4 months but when it is first started from cold it does sound like a bag of spanners. But when it is warm tick over is lovely and smooth.
Maybe i should get some CCC's and then i might not be able to hear the engine at all!!!
