Tuscan (02) Price

What's a reasonable price to sell a good condition 02 Tuscan for? How difficult are they to shift now? Would you recommend private or dealer sale if you wanted to sell it quickly? What's the best places (Top Marquees etc.)?
TIA
TIA
I had mine on for what seemed like a life time. (2000) New engine - 12 months warranty, new seats, new rear screen, new clutch, service, mot, new tyres... the list goes on. I dropped the price to £16,000 which considering the 7k I had just spent on it was a joke. Anyway still got it and quite frankly I'll be keeping it at that money.
My advice is to put it on the mainstream market (top marques etc) and you'll get a genuine buyer rather than someone who has read too many threads on here, really wants one but is too afraid! I had a list too long to mention and people would still be put off by shocks that were a couple of years old !
Sorry I cant be more positive but I love my car, it is absolutely mint and I really couldnt have spent any more money on it but with all the bad press out there then I just couldnt give it away!
Good luck
Thanks for the advice.
I phoned a couple of dealers, one who wasn't interested as they had a full stock and the other offered £16K, which is a joke. I paid £32K for the 02 model and although the mileage is silghtly higher than average (31,000), I would still expect to get around £22K.

Hi
The PH Classifieds are a good source of potential prices - overpriced ones tend to hang around for a while - look for the ones that have sold reasonably quickly. There are some private sale Tuscans 02/03 at around low 20Ks but your mileage is a bit high for a Tuscan - has it had an engine rebuild yet? If so, when and is there a warranty - ones with recent rebuilds and warranties seem to be the most desirable purchase.
Why not put it on PH Classifieds and see what interest it generates - good photos and description all help.
Good luck.

I wouldn't worry its just a blip, people will still want them and theres now only limited supply,so prices will eventually firm plus parts supply once all the legal mess is sorted out be like other classic stuff, avaliable.
Hmmmm. Sorry, I don't agree. I rang around for prices on mine a month ago and the best I got was £19K (Tuscan Mk2, 2005, 24K on clock, FSH). The problem is the engine - dealers don't want the potential hastle with parts supply. And anyone not buying through a dealer is looking for trouble.
In a few years yes they will plateau but I very much doubt they will rise like the Griff has. The Tuscan will forever be seen as a beautiful but flawed car, and the flaw will keep the price low.
A friend of a friend rang me up a fortnight ago and asked me my advise on buying a TVR. I spent a good half hour explaining the problems and eventually said that unless it was a Griff, don't buy anything. I hated having to say that as I've been around TVRs almost 10 years on and off, but I simply couldn't advise someone to buy a SP6 based car.

Not sure I agree with you using dealer offer as representative of the market price. I know that Fernhursts for example will offer £8 or £9k for a Griff that will sell for £15k privately. As ever there is a hit if you want to sell quickly.
Odd though it may seem most buyers also want the older Mk1 Tuscan because of the classic detailing etc. The cars are also very colour sensitive. Unfortunately cars with much over 15,000 miles seem to set alarm bells ring re clutch or engine work, especially when there are so many low mileage examples around. Also selling in March is probably not the easiest time to sell a sports car or convertible.
Sure the market is weak (as it is for many brands) but I think the problem was also your car is in the band where it is probably more likley to be a main car rather than a second car and that limits the buyers and different criteria come into play such as warranty and speed of repair..
Still atleast someone got a bargain. At that price I would have kept it as I doubt you would have lost much more running it for another year.

Just had a phone call out of the blue from my local dealer today. Have been wanting to sell my S for a while and mentioned to dealer about a month ago while in for service.
He tells me people have been 'queing up' to buy one and they have run out of stock and are now sourcing from private sellers! Thinks I could sell mine within a week or two on SOR. Am I missing something here??

I was speaking to an official TVR dealer earlier in the week and they have no stock of Tuscans! They told me they were offering on a couple to see if they can get some stock in.
I've just bought a 2000 Tuscan and someone has bought that dealers stock so someone out there is buying them as well as me.
An independant sold a black one at the weekend that I no of as well.
