hi all,

basically i have this noise coming from under the bonnet evey time i turn on the ignition,it seems to come from around the area where the 2 boxes are on the near side at the bulk head, not sure which one exactly,it does'nt seem to affect anything but it's obviously not right.

cheers,

kev.

Those two boxes contain the heating and air con matricies. The clunking you're hearing is probably just the blend door moving into position when the blower comes on.

...in fact, when mine stopped clunking it was because my heater ECU had melted the connector block due to really poor crimping of the pins and I had no heating. Clunking from the heating is a good thing

I think they are fitted to all regardless of aircon being there.

Only way to truly check of you've got A/C fitted is to take the engine cover off and look for the A/C gubbins. Over to the rear of the engine bay, passenger side, look for some aluminium pipes going into a foil covered box. This is the A/C evaporator and refrigerant pipes. You can also look for the A/C compressor which is belt driven and mounted beside the engine with said aluminium pipes feeding into it.

If it doesn't have these, you've not got A/C.
