3.6 engine

Anyone had any problems with the 3.6 engine? My 4litre has developed a nasty sounding top end knock, and is off to the dealers today . They have a new 3.6 in stock, and after driving myself mad trying to think what to buy next, I keep coming back to the Tuscan, so I'm toying with the idea of trading up to the 03 car, but am worried about any more engine nonsense!

Not any problem yet, apart from the usual TVR niggles
(speedo stopped working, aircon problem, windscreen wiper failure). The car is a 3.6 Tuscan (March 2003) with 5800 miles now.
The engine feels stronger and more powerful with the miles building up.

Was talking to a main dealer about tamoras and he said that he was not aware of any that had engine problems in the same way as some 4.0's.

Like to think that this is true.

You don't see very many Tamoras for sale do you? I wonder if this is because they tend to be more reliable or TVR just isn't selling very many of them?

Cheers guys, I've just been told it's thrown a big end shell So I'm going to ask the salesman about the 3.6 car, and stick with TVR for the time being

I thought a couple of people on the Tamora forum had problems with the 3.6 and had top end work done.

My 3.6L went pop at 4200 miles.

(Never got a straight answer about what exactly went wrong. I *think* it was a broken piston, possible caused by a broken finger follower jamming a valve which then hit the piston).

I've managed to get a great trade in price, and am picking up my new silver car tommorow. Must say I'll miss Rolex Blue, but at least I'm back on the road
