Hi all.

My air conditioning is not blowing cold air, only cool. I suspect it needs a re-gas. Having looked at youtube it looks an easy enough job on a normal car, but before I take off the bonnet has anyone here attempted it themselves. Its a 2006 Tuscan S. Is it the usual R134a refrigerant? Would a re-gas kit from Halfords work ok?

Any advice is most welcome. I want to get it working before I head to the Le Mans Classic in July.

Take it to your service garage.

They should evacuate the system first, ensure it holds the vacuum for at least 45 mins to ensure no leaks of refrigerant, then refill with the gas and the correct compressor lubricant.

My last service threw up that the compressor is f***ed, so they wouldn't recharge the system.....Looking for a compressor!!

Just for info, I had the air con regassed at a local garage. They needed to know the amount of refrigerant and the amount of oil to put in.

650ml of refrigerant and 60ml of oil, as I was informed by the nice guys at Powers Performance, when I rang them.

A clever machine did the purge of the old gas, a vacuum test and oil and regas all automatically. It took about 45 minutes.

Now I have chilled air in the cockpit again.
