"On the driver's side just inside the service bonnet, located on the main bonnet itself is a pull level which will unclip the top of the service bonnet. This lever can be locked with a key and it's quite difficult to get the key into the hole without dropping it into the fans, so many people leave this unlocked."

I pushed itscratchchin And then realised I don't have the keyweeping

Now what?

This is the profile of the key, I thought the lock may have had a number similar to letter box or locker locks, but no. Sorry I can't be of more help.

At the risk of sounding a bit dumb...

Can't you just push the square of plastic with the keyhole on it to release the catch? On mine, I have to physically turn the key to lock it and as you dont have the key, it sounds likely that it's just "secured" rather than locked?

Is all OK then ?
I will be driving back through Kent from Dover or Channel Tunnel on the 12 Aug., so could meet you with my key.

When I bought my car, the previous owner told me never to lock it, as he had been told that these locks fail very easily and if they do, then you are screwed.. SO followed his advise and always leave it unlocked and unsecured.

Just for reference, when you have the bonnet off it is worth checking the cable as mine was almost frayed through.
