I have searched the forum but not found this problem. Whilst the car is moving the window will drop and the door opening message shows. The door does not open and the message will disappear after a while. The window stays down until I wind it up. Any ideas from the collective. In addition when this happens and I leave the window down the door opening message doesnt appear again. confused

It's probably the little encoder in the door that's got damp, hairdryer or a new one will solve the problem.

If not the little door encoder, it sounds like the door ecu's under the centre console.

Does this if water/damp gets into the door cavity. It makes the window encoder play silly buggers. It will dry out and start working normally again. Once it's dried out, take the door card off and liberally spray the encoder and connectors with silicon spray to drive any further moisture out and to seal it up.

Worked a treat on mine as mine did this whilst driving back from LeMans with the window half down and it refusing to go back up in the pissing rain. haha

Or get some potting compound )I think its called that) from maplin. Its a kind of silicone gel use to seal electronics from moisture

Thanks all for the advice. I am not sure if it is the damp as I have previously sealed the encoder. The ECU has been reconditioned on the passenger side so I will start there, at least they will both be done then. Another job for the winter. thumbup

Most likely be the microswitch built into the lock. If this activates it thinks the door is open and then drops the window. The switch is cheap to replace but may just need adjusting.

Would agree with Neil too.
Worth a check, and a very simple fix by giving the blade on the microswitch a slight bend with a pair of long nose pliers so that it engages properly with the lock internals.
The switch is obvious once the stainless 'beauty cover' is removed from the lock.

Switch around your ECUs then you'll know if its the that. Only takes 10mins.
If not, buy a new door PCB - only £20 on ebay. Solved my problems.

I'll third that. I had the same thing on mine and it turned out to be water running down the cables to the plug on the microswitch. I put a new switch in and soldered the joints and it's been ok since.
