TVR Tuscan Servicing
Discussion
Just did a search for Tuscan Servicing - nothing came up, although I did find a wiki (that now seems a little out of date???)
I am in Northants, and its time my Tuscan had a service - its only 4,000 miles from the last service, but that was 2 years ago. The oil is looking a little black, so probably best to get it checked over.
I would be very grateful for recommendations, or even places to avoid (provided you don't break forum rules!) I'm much more interested in it being done properly - can't see the point in saving a few pounds at the expense of things being missed.
Not that it matters so much, more out of interest - Is there much variation in how long it takes, I'm assuming its a full day (I realise if they find other problems - then it'll take much longer!)
Thank you for your replies

If you're in Northant then it's got to be TVR Power. Dom will do a low mileage service at a very reasonable price.

Many things will need checking and the fluids will need changing, but things such as the plugs and tuning might require less money/time spent on them due to the car not being used much.akwaaba said:
Thanks for the reply. A week, that is interesting ... is that usual for most places?
They normally do mine in a day, or two days for a 12k. However, if they get busy and you don't need your car for a few days due to work or whatever then it is easier to leave it with them for a few more days. Nice quiet secure location. As already mentioned, best for you is Power in Coventry.
Str8 6 are very good but a long way from you so unless you have a real desire to visit Jason I wouldn't bother as Dom is just as good.
Personally I use Sebring but as their in Norfolk thats a touch far for you to go. As for servicing you realise the intervals are every 6k or 12 months?

are you saying 6k or 12 months - whichever comes first
I bought it in May, checked the mileage it was serviced, didn't pay so much attention to the date.
Are you suggesting it'll be fine to wait a couple of thousand miles?
After speaking to a few TVR owners, I reckon, its probably best to get it done over the next month or two
Yes, 6k miles or 12 months which ever comes first.
As your TVR hasn't had a service in 2 years then it will need one asap regardless of miles.
6k service - small service
12k service - big service inc tappet adjustment.
If you have a 12k service and don't do 6k miles by the time the next service is due then you can have a check up service so to speak.
Also, you are aware of the warm-up precedure? i.e. until oil temp is at 70deg you should limit your revs - This is very important.

Thank you for your reply - I will get the car serviced ASAP, won't be using it much until it has been - thanksAs your TVR hasn't had a service in 2 years then it will need one asap regardless of miles.

Given your location, and their quality/reputation, Str8six make complete sense - only down on J6 of the M40 so not far at all and Jason and team are most friendly/skilled. Need not take 1 week if you give adequate advance notice and plan diaries ahead.
Thank you for your reply, next is to make a list of the jobs that need doing, along with the service. Then get some prices and decide what needs doing most along with the service.Thank you to everyone that replied

I have used Str8 Six, and I can tell you that they guys there will go through the car with a magnifying glass and give you a list with things that need to be looked at. Thank you to everyone that replied
Whichever garage you use, I highly recommend you do a big service (12K), especially if you just got the car. If nothing else, just for your peace of mind..
