the Heaterswitch does not work at all. With replacement from other car everything works OK (heatercomputer is OK)
Looks very difficult to repair. Wat to do next?

If nothing on it works then i would check the connection between the main power socket and the printed circuit board, this may have fatigued over time with vibration and would be a simple fix. If you have an electrical multimeter you can check the continuety of these connections.

it seems to work. So what will be the next step? Send it to a specialist? (if there is somebody who can fix it.)

I made a picture of the backside. The left one is the non working 2000/2001 design. The right one is from 2003 car and works on the console of the 2000 car. Interesting to know why they changed the design. Anybody knows??

Problem solved.
With the help of PS Electronics the situation is clear;

For the left on the last picture switch I need the early computer ME 0426
For the right switch the V2 version ME 0489 They do not mix together, only as the correct pair. I was lucky to find a used switch in the end because the switches ( esp. early ones) are rare.
I have now a combination of a later switch and a ME 0489 in an early (2001) car and it works!

What would be a really nice mod to this controller would be to add a temperature sensor to it so that it could adjust the heater flap and fan speed automatically to maintain the cabin temperature at the set point.

How difficult would that be to do?
