Are lots of pop's and bangs on overrun in keeping with the spirit of TVR or can it be over the top?

AND - If you had the chance to swap your standard exhaust for one with lots of pops and bangs on overrun - Would you?

I like a few, mine is more snaps and crackles which I like. Too loud though is too much Southend sea front for me though.

I badly want flames though, I reckon wrapping the manifold will do it but it's easier said than done frown

I personally love the pops and bangs, I recently popped in 20 liters of Tesco's momentum and got even more pops and bangs (normally run on optimax). I still run with the cats on to keep the volume down a little! smile

I like the pops and bangs and noise when I am playing, but sometimes particularly when I am out with mrsblue or on the motorway I could do with it being quieter.

Currently decatted with loud Carbon Cans, I wonder if a switchable system is feasible. Or what is best for a happy medium?

I recently had my T350 de=catted (I already had a JP rear box) and the overun has gone into another level. It probably is too loud and if I'm totally honest the tone of noise was better with just the JP BUT it just puts a huge drin on your face. Whether or not I'll keep this set up I don't know but for now I love it - it is a fun car after all, not a daily driver.

Exactly how I feel - love the drama of pops and bangs but I want to do a 1000 mile run in the spring without my head exploding biggrin

I use these Ear Plugs

They are excellent, you can still hear speech and pops and bangs but they get rid of the harsh noises, plus they are great with the roof off and windows down long journeys.

It's funny how you get used to the noise. When I first got the car which running standard sleeved cans I found it to be suitably loud. After a while I felt it had become too quiet (at one point was paranoid something was wrong with the car hehe) so got some CCCs and felt satisfied it was loud enough again.

I am now at the point where it's not loud enough anymore (and wondering again if something's broken), but have to keep telling myself that it's me (or my hearing) which has adjusted to the car and that it is as loud as it ever has been.

I had to leave tye house at 6.00 am in the Tuscan last week. In a quiet village on a still morning it sounded louder than anything you can imagine. MrsB told me off for being inconsiderate to the neighbours frown

Just popping ('scuse the pun) over from the Griff forum - my newly acquired Griff has different settings via the ECU - one is quiet(ish) with no pops and bangs and one is the Full Monty - at the flick of a switch.

Must be do-able in a SpeedSix too...

What ECU have yo had fitted? Syvecs for the Speed 6 offers several different maps - bloody expensive though. Its on my list of wants.

Emerald - operated via a flick switch on the dash.

Plenty more fish in the sea Nick, but you'll only have one Tuscan. Hard to hide in a village isn't it!

Do You relise the damage your doing to the exhaust system with all this, what your doing is creating an explosion in the exhaust and the shock waves are traveling back aswell as out the tail pipe !!

I dont think its really a choice thing though is it??!!

Unless you do upgrade the ECU to one that is capable of sequential ignition?? I had thought the latest MBE ECU from Power could be a good choice - switchable maps, sequential ignition amongst other things and one Helluva lot less than Syvecs.

I too wish i could have less pops and bangs sometimes, like when im trying to be quiet coming home of an eve...but then i also absolutely love them when im in the mood evil
