Just getting round to fitting some audio and i have made a mdf panel for the rear.

The two options i have are

fit it as most others do . i.e wedged in sort of beneath the shelf and just literally trim the panel.

or

make it look like its part of the rear shelf. As im getting the car retrimmed i could have the whole speaker panel and rear shelf bit trimmed in one.
i could mount the panel so the front of it is flush with the shelf iykwim? and not sitting back.

I could fibreglass this panel in place so no messing about drilling holes and attaching bits of wood/brackets etc. It would also be completly sealed.

So the second option is indeed more permanant, deviates from standard but should look better, look different and also be held very firmly in place.

I'll go take some pics in a while as it may be hard to envisage.

Did option 2 on mine looks good and sounds better as the base box is larger and sealed better. have you thought of a way to get some speakers in the front I was thinking of some MDF boxes on the parcel shelf but cant find any small enough / good enough speakers ?

I have gone ahead and done number 2. Looks pretty good so far (just glassed in place).

I would like speakers in the doors but its a whole heap more work.

make up door pods, im not 100% confident so would have to get someone to do it.
wires through the doors- major aggro usually
sound deaden the doors because theres lots of stuff in there which would rattle- i dont want to really add any weight.

I think decent speakers in the rear should be ok, not perfect but ok. Its a small car so hopefully the sound will be alright.

Blatant plug here, but I have a set of aftermarket door pods set up for front speakers trimmed in Portland grey.
Bought them when I first got my Tuscan, but never got around to fitting them. Happy with the setup I have now, so they're just sat boxed up in the garage.
Would be happy to let them go if anyone is interested?
