Is my exhaust actually decatted?
Discussion
I knwo this sounds stupid but i have to ask.
I had the car decatted, but it turns out its just the innards which were removed... apparantly i have the decat chip.
Car was noticibly less hot inside and i got a few more pops and bangs.
Is it actually classed as a proper decat? Will it work the same?
Reason i ask is i need a new exhaust can and its obviously and opputunity
existing echaust is what i can only describe as half sleeved. Its very quiet, easily pasing noise testing at bedford. Sounds nice but quiet.
Looking at the powertech cans on ebay, i believe these are the ccc ones?
Is it going to be stupid loud now?

The powertech cans are as far as I understand, the same as ccc's. They're fully sleeved and with no packing in the can itself. This helps raise the noise levels significantly.
It's worth sleeving the rest of your std cans first to see if that gives you a good sound level first as te decat/ccc route is v.loud!!
The problem has arisen when the bodyshop took off the old cans, one he said literally wouldn't come off and has almost fallen apart apparantly. He said he can fix it up but getting new ones would be nicer.
I might get the ccc's and then try and get mine patched up for trackdays.
Mine was really quiet, cant remember what static test was but sure it was around 95db. The tester was as surprised as me.
Got the hinges btw, all fitted up nicely by all accounts, thanks very much

I like the decat/ccc option for car meetings and driving alone, lots of fun. Changing end cans to standard takes less than 5 minutes (no jacking needed) and with the standard cans on the car is perfect for track days (noise limit), long distance highway driving and driving with my wife...
Ordered some new cans today.
I have ordered cans with 100mm of perforation in them, its so hard to tell what to do tbh, i dont have to decide for a couple of days so got a bit of time.
I'm considering just having them with no silencing and then getting my dodgy can fixed for trackdays etc.
