The driver’s side window is creaking / jumping as its wound up and down....anyone successfully fixed this?

PITA and im sure it will get worse unless i do something, a new regulator is £200 odd so not wanting to go down that route unless i have too.

Rob,

Would the screwthread that turns when the window goes up and down not just need a clean and then a good spray with silicone not solve the noise? Mine used to be slow until I did clean and lubricate all moving parts.

Well, had a fettle, definitely still jumping even after plenty of silicone spray.

Bought the ebay item...and stripped the door out this eve, took out the old lot, and as i took off the old regulator motor, the encoder casing came off (it was supposed too) but anyway, upon second glance i noticed that the gaps between the teeth werent right...in fact there were a few significantly bent. Looking side onto the wheel, it had been catching on the encoder sensor....and that was what was causing the jumping...i found small plastic debris that had clearly been shaved off.

If i had left it ...there would have been teeth missing from the encoder wheel very very shortly.

Anyway, straightened out the teeth put it back together and hey presto, fixed, perfect. Bit of a waste of £30 on the replacement...but that was a 2006 item so i swapped the motors whilst i had them next to eachother...at least i know its fairly new now.

Bloody TVRs....!!!
