Anyone cut their number plate down?
Discussion
Was just looking at these pics:

It might just be the fact that the dark blue one has an 'S' splitter (which I like) and is a nicer photo, but to me the slightly cut down plate is enough to change the look of the car, whilst hopefully being subtle enough to not get you in trouble with the law.
I'm sure the designers styled the front grill with a plate the size of the raised area in mind rather than our giant UK ones, so it must improvement, right?
(I do like the look of very small platesbut I'd rather stay as legal as possible)
Has anyone else with a Mk1 pepper pot grill cut their plate down so it fits the number plate protrusion like the one above? Just seems quite an easy mod which I've never considered doing before. I'll give it a go in a couple of weeks once my MOT is out of the way.
ps. I think many modern supercars are designed without taking a front plate into account at all which is why they tend to look a bit awkward when they have one fitted (eg 458 and Aventador)

So 3/4 size plate is just about perfect size. I take it the letters are full size?
Mine arn't full sized letters on my 3/4 plate but in 3 years of running the Griffith it was never a problem. Now have the same on my Cerb Just 'bluetack'
a full sized one on for the MOT. More annoying is the fact the screw holes from the full sized plate are now showing
Plates can be got from www.fancyplates.com
Hey all,
W675 SBL on blue was mine until the summer. I'd love to be able to share the secret as the plate fitted the panel on the pepper pot millimeter perfect. Sadly, it was on the car when I bought it in 4 years ago.
Lots of other owners asked me where it came from but I never saw another one the same which led me to beleive it must've been custom cut and the boyz in blue never once took issue.
Its a subtle difference but really shows the intended look of the front grill.

when it comes to sut down plates these are the dogs.
i keep getting stoped with them but they are 100% legal.
They meet all the DVLA rules on fontsize, spacins and borders.
You only need 11mm of border showing around the fonts..
BSAU and Post code on em too..
£m backing and 3d stick on letters.
Awesome..
check out dvla b4 you alter yours then sit back and enjoy the baffled looks as the police let you go and admit defeat..:-)
I knw it aint a TVR but thought id show my plate to inspire you all..
