Discussion
Morning Guys,
I am looking for a new TVR. My situation however is different and am in need of some advice.
I emigrated to North Oz 3 years ago, I have been thinking about it for a while and decided on a Tuscan.
I have done my research and it appears the most viable for me is to buy a damaged tuscan and repair it. This is because previous history ie insurance write off is irrelevant here as insurance is based solely on local valuation upon arrival.
Therefore this one has caught my eye.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TVR-TUSCAN-SP6-2004-LIGH...
Now its listed at 12k, He has said 1400 for fibreglass repairs and I am estimating at least 1k for a front end respray.
How much realistically will also be damaged at the front. I have spoken to the guy and he states radiator and lights.
that being the case say another 750 for parts and and possibly same again for fitting???
does anyone know the car pre-accident?
also what is the engine like on the later tuscan? I am aware of the problems with the earlier speed 6 but they are as well documented for the later ones.
makes it a bit difficult as I cannot just pop over and have a look.
thanks

Hi, suggest you discuss with the salvage guy all parts required including the smaller easy to forget bits and then contact TVR Power to price them up and estimated labour cost. You need to clarify the paint colour as some of the fancy ones can be expensive. My guess is that once you've totted it all up you're going to be approaching at least 18k- it's at 1.5k before paint, radiators, fans, lights, sundries, labour, plus vat (suspect the quotes are ex vat) and the 12k asking price.
The other thing to consider is even when the damage is fixed you've still got a 7 year old used car that may have had existing gremlins that need addressing. Finally the rear looks like it's riding high to me, be worth asking as well.
Best of luck, sorry if this is a bit negative.
Cheers Andrew
