Getting brassed off now...will the list of jobs ever be gone
Discussion
On a real downer regarding the car at the moment, perhaps cause im having to put in the hours at work at moment, travelling a lot then when im home i have to make up for time lost with the family, so no time to spend on the car...so i have time to stew on the crappy little things that keep blighting the enjoyment factor!!
It just seems whenever i get on top of one list of niggles, i get another. I had my service done recently and they pointed out a few things, which resulted in a few evenings of work, but fixed one thing and it causes another problem and it feels like one step forward, two steps back...totally fed up.
My list:
Anderson connector corroded, so bought a replacement, went to fit, the replacement wasn’t tapped down the mounting holes, so simply removed the connector
Rear brakes pads wearing unevenly after replacing pads last year, my fault, so had to get new pads and skim discs.
Detailed the car early in the year, but then during the service (and someone trying to demonstrate a loose wiper mechanism) the wing cover got dragged up the passenger door leaving a whole bunch of scratches that weren’t seen at the time, looking at the car yesterday i noticed. May clean up but will be time consuming, if not its £200 odd to respray the door, an innocent mistake but still one thats going to take time or money (or both) to fix.
Replaced rear window clips with racetech items, and a week later, two journeys, i have a small crack in my screen by one of the clips.
Replaced door and roof seal, couldn’t get roof in, damaged T bar trying. Now its on, but dare not take it off for a few months and so yesterday i was sealed in during the sunshine 
Replaced all of the nuts and bolts on rear of the wishbones last year when replacing bushes, and now all furred up and rusty again (hence my other thread regarding how to protect nuts and bolts....going to start again this winter...have purchased a complete nut and bolt kit for under the car)
Purchased new window winder motor only to find the encoder was damaged, repaired that myself and all was right, but now the window wont close properly as a result of replacing door seals! Leaves 5 mm gap between window and roof.
Replaced fuel hose between pump and filter for a second time after being told i shouldn’t use anything but ‘standard’ hose in this area (i.e. the cheap plastic sh!t that TVR used!!). The cheap plastic stuff split when i replaced the filter last year (it had never been changed!!!). I havent followed this advice but i have rerouted it and upgraded it to marine hose rather than standard fuel hose. When removing the old hose it was clear it was still perfectly serviceable (again, frustrating but it did need rerouting, i could have routed it further away from the ARB first time round)
Both engine mounts have slight cracks after having been replaced when engine was rebuilt two years ago (very, very frustrating!)
Sorry for the rant, i feel a little better, some of the repeat work is stuff that could have been avoided, some of it is just designed to p!ss you off. I read Cockey’s thread about the fuel and paint and realise its probably not just me, but that doesn’t make it any better!!
Im really hoping i get to the bottom of the list this time and it doesn’t recreate itself for a while....

Sorry this isn't going top help you, but I can see why you are frustrated.
I do work on the principle of "if it ain't broke don't fix it"
This means I have some rusty bolts underneath, the roof seal isn't new (but works fine), the door seals aren't new (but work fine) etc
Sometimes I am glad my OCD isn't as extreme as some peoples

You've actually made me feel a little better about my problem. Thanks!
Sorry to hear about all of yours. The most frustrating bit for me would be the roof and then the window not closing. Without being able to remove the roof you've lost a large part of the enjoyment in owning one of these cars in my opinion.
I was thinking a few days ago, if my car were perfect (which it certainly isn't after yesterday!
), would I enjoy it more? I'm not sure I would. Yes, it would be lovely to just hop in and drive, but I think part of the ownership of these cars is always having something to do to them to make them better. Saying that, it's obviously no good when problem after problem arises and you don't even have time to enjoy the car - which is obviously where you are at the moment.

I too travel a lot.
I have bought a second TVR last year.
A 1998 Chimaera which is in, body and interior, good condition
BUT, and I knew it needed attention, Steering joints, clutch + slave + master, bonnet hinge, service, handbrake, tracking..... and I still have a list including diff overhaul, new headlights, a little chassis corrosion and MOT.
Oh and it just got bumped so scuffed what was perfect boot paintwork.
And my problem is I want to be giving my Tuscan some tlc with its 12k service, the old sticking throttle and having left it for a few weeks my new front brake pads are damaged ?
Frustrating but my own fault.
I will defo be selling the Chimaera simply so that I can focus on one.

Glad i made you feel better!! They are a hobby as much as 'just a car', they have to be, its just that it seems to be relentless!!

Shame having to sell on the Chimaera to be able to sort the Tuscan out! I understand how that could happen though...i dont have enough time for one at the moment between family and work!! I guess i like the car to be A1 all the time and even the slightest niggle will bug me until i have it fixed...so i guess part of being a bit p!ssed off is my own doing!!I have bought a second TVR last year.

I know...i could work to that, i did on my Cerby. I know my OCD doesnt stretch to the levels of some guys on here, but i would like it to be longer term form and function, i get fed up of doing a job and having to do again, i have always really tried to make sure when i do do a job that needs doing, like the wishbone bushes, that i clean up and fix any other bits and pieces in the same area, and the the parts i fix / replace will last longer than originally (if possible)...I do work on the principle of "if it ain't broke don't fix it"

Rob - chin up mate!
Regarding the door/scratches, I'm fairly confident that a good detailer/bodyshop could polish them out. Even have a go yourself with 1500 wet&dry or a good compound and mop?
I replied to you post on seals and related my findings with the Woolies versus the RaceTech rubber profiles. The RaceTech seal was a much better fit. Whilst it felt 'new' when first put on, some silicone spray sorted the window lift operation, and the roof fitted snugly, but not to the point where you had to use force.

I had a few hours on the car today (not as long as i would have liked, but never do anymore!) and i feel a lot better. I have a das-6 dual action pro polisher with pads and polishes (purchased last year and did the whole car), so i was able to tackle the scratches (which were up the wing too). Managed to get 99% of them out, small witness mark left but you wouldnt really see it unless you knew it was there.
Have looked again at the window clips and releived some material from the underside of the bootlid but it is a bit odd, as they werent touching when i looked today, i can only think maybe i hadnt installed the screen right, which again, would be odd!!
Anyway, car looking great after the work, few bits still to do, like checking the carbon cannister, but apart from that, ready to run...
sorry for the rant....was on a pretty low ebb about things last week!!!
