MIL LAMP ---- Then replaced by a COUNTER ??!!

My Tuscan S Convertible started flashig "MIL LAMP" in the LCD Display in the location where the warning messages come up. The next time it was taken out this went away and has been replaced by a Counter. This seems to count seconds whilst driving, but who know, it may be distance. It doesn't count when you are stopped. It is currently reading "046.22".

There's no engine missfire by the way. I don't yet know what the MIL LAMP warning was as it hasn't yet been plugged in to a diagnostic programme.

Does anyone have any idea what this counter is ?
