lol they are fast,my old jap machine was faster than my prescent car.....but i would much rather have my tvr in so many ways. You got to spend big bucks on em to get em this fast, but the tvr comes out the box that quick
...well maybe a few mods needed
This ^
...well maybe a few mods neededI did the whole impreza thing and i still think it of one of the fastest cars point to point out there for the roads same as all your rally reps pushing upwards of 320bhp.
But i would have a tiv any day of the week over one again.
Secret to blowing the doors off a ricer is this.
Assuming he's behind you coming out of a roundabout and very eager to prove something he'll be whizzing round the roundabout and getting on the gas as early as possible. Now this sort of driving style doesn't suit a TVR so as you come out of the round about he'll be hard on the gas and up your chuff. You'll still be taking it relatively easy and making sure the car is in a straight line before getting on it. Whist you're doing this Mr Ricer turbo nutter will have backed off and gone off boost. It's at this point that you deploy maximum 2nd gear firepower right up to the red shift light and leave Mr Ricer for dead.
Works every time and shows them up so much they generally loose interest pretty sharpish.

Regrettably the roundabouts were too fast for Mr Ricer to come off boost, I should have slowed down more

So you should have been changing down through the gears to second, lots of pops and bangs to intimidate him, then as above, pedal to the metal once straight, using all the rev range...
Thanks for the tips - now I need a rematch
I'd let it lie myself ......I used to have an evo9 gt with around 410bhp. It had mild anti lag, launch control, proper clutch so you really could launch it. It was a really sorted car.
No question it was fast, down a B road you would lose a tuscan without even thinking about it. When you drive one you can see why people nick them for bank jobs
That said me and the oh have a clk 350 and i reckon i could drive that quicker down a b road than the tusc. B roads are fun but not suited to the stiff tuscan imo- that wont stop me though from enjoying them the most. In the tuscan you don't have to drive like a maniac to have fun, infact it would be stupid to as it would be so easy to get it wrong in one.
However they have downsides....
It feels like all the power is over by around 100mph. To me an m3 feels faster than my old evo after 100. I'm not sure if it was because it was so quick to 80 it just felt slow after that.
Around a track i am confident that my tuscan would be faster than the old evo. The tuscan has to be driven with commitment and very smoothly. I took it on track and was seriously mixing it with a v10 r8 and a gt2. The evo is all about low down power and grip. The tuscan has lots of grip believe it or not but only in the right conditions. The tuscan i think could be made to handle incredibly well, its just easier to sort a evo as theres so much knowledge out there- there just isn't that knowledge for tvr's imo.
The evo was IMPOSSIBLE to get sideways, granted if you lifted at 100mph you could but thats probably not a good idea.
The tuscan feels like your driving something special that requires respect, i felt the evo didn't.
I think a 500bhp evo would be significantly better than a 400bhp one (obviously). Theres also a lot about with the best part of 500bhp so maybe this fq360 wasn't standard? Take a look on the MLR and you will see very few evo's are standard.
I do miss the evo's flames though
I used to find a dark road just to see that big flash in all your mirrors on every gearchange
If i don't have random problems at my next service (which i shouldn't hopefully) i may get my manifolds wrapped because i need some fire
