Hi all

Taking the Tuscan on its first trackday next week and wondered if anyone had any suggestions for base settings for the suspension and tyres? I recognise there will be some trial and error, but I'd like to have settings that are close to start with.

Shocks are the latest Gaz Gold pros which I run at 10 clicks front and 12 clicks rear which works well as an average on normal roads. Tyres normally 23/25 front rear.

Cheers

dampers: would say +4 on the rear and +5 on the front
(BTW think better to run the front dampers harder than the rear, even for normal road)

Tyres: keep as is but monitor them during the day: they will heat up and you'll need to drop the pressure

Agree with that, front stiffer by 2-4 clicks then adjust those settings up or down to suit.

I've only done one trackday but the car felt the best when it was set to fully stiff and imo could have benefited from being even harder.

I also found that about 23psi hot was best on the tyre but they will all behave differently so have a play around.

Fully stiff on some dampers is way too stiff although I used to run my Pro-techs on max but that was because they overheat on track and loose their damping ability being a twin tube damper.

With my Monos, 1/2-2/3rds from soft is more then enough.

Too stiff makes the tail lively and the car won't follow the track easily, you need a certain amount of compliance.

lets talk about the really important stuff
what kind of tyres are you running
olders than 3 years and no semi slick's than forget setttings (from michelin, pirelli, toyo or yoko)
they will help a bit but you still will be all over the place.
a proper set-up is a mixture of a lot of things
youre contact to the tarmac is 4 x allmost nothing
4 x old, hardend and not appropriate stuff makes youre trackday special :0))

Thanks for all the input chaps. I am running the front harder than the rear - lets just say old age crept in when I made the original post mad I'll add 5 clicks front and rear and see what happens from there

The tyres are all less then 2 years old but road focussed not track - I expect this trackday will finally kill the rears though so will be on the lookout for some replacements.

Cheers
