Dash pod is driving me crazy
Discussion
I cant believe the aggro i'm having with the dash pod
It all worked perfectly- no problems at all, until i decided to strip it down to give it a clean and to affix the plastic cover a bit better.
Bad move
i used a f
king nail wipe (don't ask why) to give the lcd readout a clean, durrrr what a spanner i felt when the nailwipe literally ate away at the lcd screen.
Ordered a new screen, after lots of messing about got it working.
Drove it to get it retrimmed, halfway there half the screen loses lines, becomes apparant its just a bad connection as if i put pressure on the back of the pod it all comes on again.
So i strip it down to repair- not joking must have stripped down 6 times at least and problem is still there i.e missing half of screen and comes back on when i put pressure on the back.
So now where i have taken it apart so much the solder joints on the knob which lets you scroll through the menus breaks
So i take it to some electronics bloke who re solders it neatly for me/.
Get it back to the car and initially when i turn the knob i get a loud clicking noise- like when its got a flat battery.
Here is where i have left the car and havent been back since.
The guy trimming it said he turned the plug the other way as the bloke who soldered the wires may have got them the wrong way round.
Now we get all lights working around the knob, but it wont scroll through, initially you get the door is open message and the beeping- press knob in to stop this, then your straight onto the rev counter display, turn the knob and you get 'awaiting data' message flashing up- this then wont go away and we cant get any other displays up.
Its driving me f
king mad tbh (that and giving up smoking) What do i do now? anyone know wtf is going on or anyone know who can fix it?

Jasper there are so many connectors in there it is a nightmare when you say you push the back of the pod it comes on do you mean the connector at the rear have a check of the sockets fitted on the car loom in the multiway plug these are usually a stamped and formed contact and can open up giving a poor connection particularly as you have had it out so many times they will look oval rather than round

I would suggest at this stage get a specialist to do it mate.
Cath Mason used to make the pods up at TVR, she now does repair and refurb as an independant, suggest you give her a try?

Is the POD now fixed, and did you get your front screen fitted ok on Monday?
The car looking stunning and is going to be very unique in the TVR world. You need to take some picture of the car and publish them on PH once you get it back from Str8six so others can appreciate the changes you have made.

Martin you did me a massive favour by looking at the pod for me, it's fixed properly now! And it has worked well since.
Got her mot'd and got the screen fitted and now looks amazing with glass in, I took it out last night and people were literally stopping and straring lol
So it's been collected by str8 six and I am dreading their call as when it was up on the ramp I noticed brake fluid under the gearbox
which indicates the clutch slave so I just hope the clutch is ok when it gets removed......
I'll put some pics on my thread when it's back

Error code: Pod not scrolling through different menu options and displaying "Awating Data..." when trying to toggle.
Fix: Cut and resoldered the ribbon cable from the light switch in the Pod to the circuit board, because it looked like it had been soldered with a shovel and had a bad joint, didn't Jasper!
And made use of an old PC connector to connect the two interconnecting pins from board 4 and 5 to fix the back light.

I can build a perfect driveway or garden and there are many others things I can do well, however soldering is not one of those things.
