Seat rebuild

Hi folks,I was wondering if anyone had done and documented a seat rebuild? I have a tuscan seat in 'kit form' that I'd like to put back together but it doesnt look as simple as I'd first thought, if I want to do a tidy job. Any help much appreciated,cheers,Mike

What do you mean by kit form? I'm stripping my driver's seat down at the moment as the bolsters are broken/bent and I want to sort them out properly before getting both seats recovered.

Basically its all in seperate pieces and when I try to put it back together imy first big problem is that I seem to have too much leather to clip on to the back so it is slack! I would also like to know how the inflatable lumber suppoprt is fitted and where best to source these?

The lumbar support pad is just sandwiched between the foam and the seat back panel. It's not actually attached.

If you want any pics of how the cover is attached in certain areas let me know, as I can take them while mine is partially stripped.

I think Ive been missing the obvious a bit. I reckon the excess leather just tucks in behind the bars? Just wondering now which order to assemble the seat in as it looks like you have to assemble certain pieces first to enable it to go together

Yes it looks from mine that the bottom edge hooks under the frame and then the sides and top edge are pulled over the outer frame and held with hog rings around the thinner round inner rods. The headrest/bolsters then fit and bolt to the frame with the stitching inside the headrest hole finished last.

This is mine with the bolster piece removed.

Ah well,I've just hit a brick wall with this . I wanted to assemble the base to the back and have found I have a part missing. Its the elbow joint which fixes between the two frames and has a coiled spring mounted on it. I doubt I will ever be able to buy this as a spare part so it looks like I have a lot of spare seat parts and will have to find another drivers seat to re-furb! I wonder if the part is the same as fitted to the griff/chim seats as it does look possible that it could be generic

Does anyone happen to know who supplied the seats to TVR?

In the most part they made them themselves,frames trim etc.
